Sewing Saturday

This week I set out to make a simple circle skirt. I hate shopping for clothes, designers think that if you are as tiny as me you are either a short child or a 5'7'' model. I am neither, but that doesn't mean I don't deserve to have clothes fit my shape. I love skirts with a higher waist, I just think they look classic and fit very nicely. The problem I have is that most of the skirts in the store are too short for my comfort. Just because I want the top to come up higher doesn't mean I want the bottom to follow! So with my measurements, and some gorgeous fabric my mother gave me, I created this:

The fabric is a really light silky material that is a blue green shade with white flowers and I am in love with the final product. I couldn't help but make the picture look vintage. The pattern and fit called for it. Here in Pittsburgh it rains more than not, but when I finally do wear this out and about I will share more pictures in natural light so you can see how beautiful this skirt really is. I plan on making many more of these skirts!

Changes

I've been thinking a lot about this blog, and the changes that need to happen to make this blog become what I had hoped it would be. So here is a list of the goals I have and how I plan to achieve them. I know no one reads this blog (yet) but hopefully one day, readers will look back on its beginnings and see the passion I have for this type of writing and the desire to share my experiences with others.

First, this blog is to document my life with my amazing husband, and the adventures we take TOGETHER. This means I need to post milestones as well as the day to day. This also means I need to try and get my husband to give me some of his perspective. I like being well rounded ya know!

Second, I want to use this platform to share my writing endeavors, personal challenges, desires and things that are of interest to me. If I had to classify the blog, it would probably fit into Lifestyle.

Third, and probably the most important of them all, I want this blog to be centered around my faith in Jesus Christ. It is so easy to get carried away in sharing what I am doing, what I am accomplishing and forgetting that it is only through Him that all these things are possible. I want this blog to glorify Christ and bring me closer to His image.

Many changes are heading this way, and I am excited to see where they lead!

We are moving to...

This summer Joseph has been blessed with an amazing opportunity to be an intern with Google.

That's right, my husband works for Google.

We will be spending the summer months in Pittsburgh where Joseph will be working and I will be writing.

We are incredibly excited for this awesome time in our lives. Please pray for arrangements as we are juggling life here and preparing for life there, also pray that we can find a good church and a good group of people- especially for me since I will be alone most of the time, far away from our supportive friends.
